leroy, jules (1903-1979), French historian of Christian iconography of the anti-Chalcedonian churches. He was master of research at the Centre national de la Recherche scientifique in Paris. He studied with A. Grabar and worked on the miniatures of Syriac, Ethiopian, and Coptic manuscripts, as well as on Coptic mural paintings.
