wiesmann, hermann (1871-1948), German exegete. He entered the Society of Jesus on 30 September 1890 and was ordained priest on 2 February 1913. Wiesmann was professor of exegesis and of Oriental languages at the Institute of Philosophy and Theology in Frankfurt-am-Main. Besides works on various languages of the Near East, he published some twenty studies on Coptic grammar and vocabulary.
